Drexel Electric Racing is organized into three main teams, each comprised of specialized subteams.

To join, you can attend one of our general body meetings, details on time and location is found on our Microsoft Teams.

No prior experience is necessary to start getting involved, we welcome everyone! You can talk to Design Leads about your availability and skill set so they can guide you to a project based on what would be the best fit.

Electrical

Our team is responsible for the car’s battery pack, safety systems, and electronic driver controls, which are critical to ensuring performance, reliability, and safety on the track.

Working with us means diving into technology like lithium-ion battery management, high-performance PCBs, and custom-built embedded firmware.

Whether you’re passionate about designing robust battery systems, crafting intricate circuit boards, or coding firmware to bring it all to life, this is the perfect opportunity to apply your skills and creativity.

If hands-on work with innovative electronic systems excites you, we’re the team for you!

Subteams:
– High Voltage
– Low Voltage
– Firmware

Mechanical

We handle everything that can’t zap you. If you wanna help with any physical component of the car that doesn’t have electricity flowing through it, we are probably responsible for it.

From the geometry and design of the suspension system to the aesthetic details like the paint on the nosecone, we ensure every non-electrical part is optimized for performance and style.

We also handle a lot of the paperwork that goes with the static events for the car, which is actually a much bigger part of the competition than one may think. If you’re ready to get hands-on with the car’s mechanics and tackle challenges that blend creativity with precision, we’d love to have you on our team!

Subteams:
– Body and Ergo
– Vehicle Dynamics
– Chassis
– Manufacturing

Business

We manage all aspects of the business side to ensure smooth functionality and success. This includes preparing for the business events at competitions, where we pitch our car as a viable product and present our business strategy.

We also handle sponsorships and sponsor outreach, building and maintaining relationships with industry partners who support our work.

Additionally, we manage the club’s public image through social media, advertising, and creating compelling content to engage our audience.

From designing and promoting merchandise to coordinating budgets and fundraising initiatives, we cover a wide range of essential tasks.
